Deliveries, crew and captain work

Licensed and available

Erik holds a US Coast Guard Master's licence, 25 gross tons, and is available for yacht deliveries, as delivery crew, or to captain for owners who'd rather not make the passage themselves.

Sail or power, coastal or offshore. Comfortable on somebody else's systems — if your boat has electronics nobody has quite got talking to each other, that's a problem we enjoy.

Master or captain? Both, and they mean different things. Master is the licence — the grade the Coast Guard issues, with a tonnage and a route attached to it. Captain is the job: whoever is in command of the vessel at the time. So the licence says Master, 25 gross tons; the title aboard is captain. Anyone holding a Master's ticket gets called Captain as a courtesy either way.

Rates and availability depend on the route and the season. Get in touch and ask.

The guest book

Leave your mark — like a dollar on a bar ceiling

In every decent sailors' bar from Key West to Georgetown there's a ceiling covered in signed dollar bills, or a tree hung with mementos from every boat that came through. Somebody passed this way. That's the whole point of it.

We'd like one of those here. Your name, your boat's name, where you're from, and a line if you feel like it — pinned to the wall so the next person sees who came before them.

No links — that's how spam gets in, so they're rejected. Keep it civil. Anything we wouldn't want on the bulkhead comes down.

Reading the wall…

Rather have a conversation? The Discord is right there, and it's a better one.

Please tell us

Everything technical on this site is one boat's experience, written down honestly. Some of it will be wrong.

We'd rather be corrected than confidently wrong, and the whole point of writing it down is so other people can build on it. If you know better on something — and plenty of you will — that is the most useful message you could send us.
