Sailing Exodus
Five aboard

The crew

Two of us, two dogs, and a fish who has no idea what he's signed up for.

Erik

Captain · projects

Does the refit, the wiring, and the jobs that involve crawling somewhere unpleasant with a headlamp. Runs proper marine electronics and a Raspberry Pi side by side, mostly out of stubbornness about who owns the data.

Tara

Co-skipper

Half of this whole plan, and the reason it's happening rather than being talked about from a dock for another twenty years. Most often found at the helm with a coffee and a sun hat, and the dogs' favorite lap.

The rest of them

Outnumbering us three to two

Toby

First mate · best friend · hype man

The finest creature to ever walk the earth. We are not taking questions on this.

Nelly

Dog · Toby's little sidekick

Always nervous, always scared. Nervous Nelly. The name was not a coincidence and it was not our idea — she earned it.

Daryl

Betta fish

The only one of us who was already living in water before any of this was somebody's idea. Lowest maintenance, best sea legs.

The plan

Short version

Finish the refit. Quit the jobs. Sell what doesn't fit aboard. Leave next winter.

And then go until we can't go no more — whether that's old age or money that runs out first.

There's no return date, because there isn't a plan to come back. A circumnavigation if Exodus will carry us that far, and as far as we get if she won't. One of those two things ends it eventually. Until then we keep going.

Deliveries and crew

A hand when you need one

Erik is available for yacht delivery crew work and extra hands aboard.

Comfortable on somebody else's systems — if your boat has electronics nobody has quite got talking to each other, that's a problem we enjoy. Rates and availability depend on the route and the season, so ask.
